Dog Nibbles on Phone Battery Pack, Starts House Fire in Tulsa
A pet dog caused a house fire in Tulsa, Oklahoma, after nibbling on the battery pack of a portable phone charger, fire officials said.
According to fire officials, the incident happened when the dog, a 1-year-old Labrador Retriever named Sparky, was left alone in a bedroom with the phone charger plugged into an outlet.
The footage from the indoor monitoring camera shows Sparky picking up the battery pack and chewing on it. The battery pack then begins to smoke and sparks, igniting the nearby bedding.
The fire quickly spread to the rest of the house, causing significant damage.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze and rescue Sparky, who was found hiding under a bed.
Officials are urging pet owners to keep electronics and other potential fire hazards out of reach of their pets.
