Despite a Slow Start, Fever Rally in Fourth Quarter
The Indiana Fever traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada, on Thursday, June 15, 2023, to face the defending WNBA champions, the Las Vegas Aces. Coming off a thrilling comeback win in Phoenix, the Fever were looking to continue their winning ways against one of the league's top teams.
The Aces started strong, building a double-digit lead in the first half. The Fever struggled to find their rhythm and trailed by 10 points at halftime. However, the Fever emerged from the locker room with renewed energy and intensity.
Led by guard Aaliyah Boston's aggressive drives to the basket and forward Breanna Stewart's timely three-pointers, the Fever slowly chipped away at the Aces' lead. With under five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Fever took their first lead of the game. The Aces fought back, but the Fever held on for the 78-73 victory.
The win marked the Fever's most impressive of the season and moved them to 9-12 on the year. Boston led all scorers with 22 points, while Stewart added 18 points and 10 rebounds. The Aces were led by reigning WNBA MVP A'ja Wilson's 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The Fever will now return home to Indianapolis to face the Dallas Wings on Sunday, June 18, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM EST.
